Tiny Houses

I feel in love a few years ago when I saw these "Tiny Houses" by Jay Shafer. He runs the Tumblweed Tiny House Company. They sell plans for houses between 65-837 square feet. A novel idea in and of itself, but they are more than just a clever idea, I think they look great! Check out these photos from his flickr site.

I'd love to put this one on some forested land in Northern Michigan. So modern and stylish.

This one reminds me of a gypsy wagon!

This is a perfect antidote for the nightmarish McMansions of suburbia.

The Quirk Mansion

I have been in love with the Quirk Mansion, in Ypsilanti since I laid eyes on it. This place is a gem of the Second Empire style. The floral roof tiles, the mansard roof, the tower, sigh...
I dont know a ton about the place, it was once the home of the Quirk family, became Ypsilanti's City Hall, is now an office building and it may be haunted.

I wonder what it must have been like when it was a private residence. It seems like it would have been pretty amazing as a home. I would love to know if there are any photos out there of it from that time and to know more about the ghost(s)!
Here is a small wiki page about it.

Here's one I want to go see.

As a person who'd like to move I search around online looking at houses from time to time. Here's one that intriques me, I really like the fun design, makes me think this could have been done by a non professional, yet it's still is charming.

There is something fun about it and it says it's on a dead end road, love that! I also love that its on an island, which seems pretty safe if ever there was a zombie attack (heh, kidding...).

Here's is the listing, if you want more of a look, the inside looks a little outdated.

Houses

I like houses and I thought I'd share the ones I enjoy with you. Some will be from photos I have taken, some will be real estate listings, some will be links to other sites. Basically I want to post homes that make me stop and look and say "I wish I lived here".

Here are somethings this blog is not...
  • a real estate ad ( I don't sell house's, though I wish I could sell mine, but that is a post for another day.)
  • a serious study of architecture ( I love architecture but I am not equipped to speak about it in a serious way.)
  • a fan site for any certain style of home or any certain place (Though I do love ranch's and I live and am inspired by many a home in Metro Detroit. )
That stated, enjoy this house, a gem from 1959, the Brady Bunch House. It's just perfect, I have no idea how the "real" insides look, but the outside is mid-century perfection.

Here is an article re-posted from awhile ago about the place.
